The-Best-Music-Events-This-Summer-in-Nottingham-Featured-Image-1-e1650552858555

Summer is just around the corner and you know what that means – festivals!

You might be tempted to go further afield to get your fill of muddy fields and the best bands, but did you know that Nottingham has some great music festivals of its own? Every summer there is a raft of events to choose from, allowing you to stick closer to home but still enjoy the festival vibes in sunny weather. The events each year are jam-packed with something to suit everyone.

The Best Music Events in Nottingham

Dot to Dot

Your first big festival of the year, Dot To Dot goes from Manchester to Bristol to Nottingham. Like a lot of Notts’ best festivals, Dot To Dot started in the mid-00s, and over the years has played host to big names like The xx, Ed Sheeran, The 1975 and Ezra Furman and this year ought to be no different.

Detonate

One of the longest-running, most successful festivals in Nottingham is Detonate, a bass-driven day of music which spawned out of the thriving underground scene in the area. With some big names in previous years like Skepta, Chase & Status and Kurupt FM. Held at Colwick Country Park, you’re only a bus ride away from a glorious summer.

Gate to Southwell

If you’re into your roots, acoustic and folk music then Gate to Southwell Festival will be right up your street. It began back in 2007 and has grown to become an internationally renowned festival for the genres it serves. While it’s location might be a little further out than many other Nottingham based festivals – Southwell is an idyllic market town to the North-east of Notts – there is plenty to enjoy, including an Americana night.
