When Does Nottingham University Accommodation Open?

When’s the right time to apply for student accommodation in Nottingham?

Whether you’re studying at The University of Nottingham or Nottingham Trent, in this post we’ll cover all the key dates you need to know.

The University of Nottingham Accommodation

There does not appear to be any set dates for when University of Nottingham Accommodation opens each year. The time to apply seems to depend on whether you’re a prospective student or a returning student, and on whether you want catered or a self-catered accommodation.

If you’re a prospective student, then you won’t have to apply for your accommodation until your study year begins. So if you’re due to start studying in September 2023, you will most likely apply for accommodation shortly after accepting your offer.

For returning students, applications for catered accommodation appear to open in the Autumn (round about September or October). Applications for self-catered accommodation seem to open in December.

But don’t worry about missing out on accommodation. The University of Nottingham manages over 30 halls of residence, with hundreds of rooms in each.

Applying as early as possible is a good idea if you have a specific halls of residence in mind. But even if you leave it until the last minute, you’ll certainly still find somewhere to live!

Nottingham Trent University Accommodation

Nottingham Trent University guarantees rooms for all first year students. But to qualify for a room, NTU must be your firm-first choice of uni, or you must accept an offer to study there. You also need to request one by a certain date.

For prospective students due to start in September 2023, for example, the deadline to request a room is Friday 28 July 2023.

If you miss the deadline, you can book accommodation through a clearing process. Fill in this form and “keep an eye on your emails” – they’ll be in touch!

It seems that NTU prioritises first year and prospective students when it comes to accommodation. If you’re a returning student or a postgraduate, they advise you to contact their accommodation team.

NTU also runs a dedicated Facebook page for returning or postgraduate students looking for private or university-managed accommodation.
